Happy Easter from The District13 Post

Actually I wanted to do something really special here for Easter. I searched Google Images for hours and hours but just couldn’t come up with something good. I wanted to have a super awesome picture of Katniss and stuff to photoshop Easter eggs into it and all that but none of the images seemed to be good enough. Wanna know what I DID find? Alright, this is not necessarily Hunger Games related but if you squeeze your eyes this guy looks KINDA like Peeta… 😉

Oh and how sexy he winks at you… What? Surprised? Shocked? Need something to cure your innocent eyes? Alright then. Winnie the Pooh should be innocent enough, right? 😉

a

Happy Easter everyone! 😉

Hoping against all odds that this is not true…

I preordered the third Hunger Games book back in January when we didn’t even know the title yet. I’m so excited to finally hold the Mockingjay in my hands and start reading it’s almost ridiculous. About five minutes ago though, the following happened. I checked my inbox and had a mail from Amazon saying this:

Unfortunately the release date for the Hunger Games book 3 – the Mockingjay changed. The new delivery date is now October 4th.

Honestly? WTF??? Come on Amazon, Scholastic, Suzanne Collins and whoever else it is that has ANYTHING to do with this book. You can’t do that to me! I want my copy of the Mockingjay on August 24th just as you had promised! Or right now if you don’t mind! SO HURRY UP! Please…

Desperately hoping someone hacked Amazon and sent these mails out as a joke

Who should play Gale Hawthorne?

Definitely not my Gale Hawthorne... even though he most definitely has the abs!

Only a short post today, but I promise one a bit longer over the next few days! Just another thing I noticed while watching all those “my favorite Hunger Games cast” videos. While simply everyone seems to wish for Alex Pettyfer as Peeta, there are about one hundred different versions of “my perfect Gale”. Just one thing when it comes to the question who should play Gale Hawthorne: It’s NOT Taylor Lautner! Why keep people suggesting him all the time? Don’t get me wrong! I think he’s hot, oh yes! And I may or may not have seen New Moon several times just for him and the wolfpack. But Jacob from New Moon just can’t be Gale from the Hunger Games as well. Not that I would mind if Gale had Taylor’s abs though… 😉

I looked around and googled different things but so far unfortunately have not found one single guy who looks at least a little bit like Gale does in my imagination… but I’ll let you know as soon as I come across someone, promise!

So what about you? Do you think it strange how many people obviously want Taylor Lautner as Gale? Any own suggestions? Have you already found your perfect Gale? Let me know! Leave a comment or send me over some pics if you want to!

Sometimes I need to apologize

Dear readers, I’m sorry! I haven’t blogged in over a week and I feel really bad about it! This may or may not have something to do with the fact that I just have read Catching Fire again. So I’ll make up for it, promise! I took notes while reading, made a couple more Hunger Games themed Valentine’s hearts and found pics of someone who almost looks like the Peeta in my head. And I’m going to share all of this with you soon. So be prepared for an awful lot of awesomeness over the next few days!

Belated Breaking News from the Hunger Games world

Yep, I totally missed all the fuss and now I’m one day late but I’ll blog about it nevertheless! The cover and title for the third book are out and it’s called “Mockingjay”. And while I gotta say I love the color, I don’t really like the title. It just doesn’t fit in with the other two. And it looks weird on the cover with only one word in one line right at the top… See for yourself!

So what do you think? Love it? Hate it? What about the color? And the title? And the fact that Suzanne Collins i now written in one line instead of two? Come on and let’s discuss every tiny little detail no matter how ridiculous it is. Simply because this seems to get us so much closer to actually be able to hold the book in our own hands. And because I’m really excited right now! So leave a comment or e-mail me!

Let the countdown begin!

Is this what the Capitol people look like?

I couple of days ago when I was bored again and typed in random things on Google Images once more, something strange came to my mind. Remember all those descriptions on the people from the Capitol in the Hunger Games and Catching Fire? Stuff like barely looking like humans, surgically altered, dyed skin, golden tattoos, aqua and pink hair came to my mind. So I googled around for a bit and found the following gems:

Uhm yeah, I just totally posted a pic of Gwen Stefani with turquoise hair right next to a pic of a drag queen. Cause I’m awesome crazy like that.

And then guess what other photo I found that reminded me of the Capitol people? The Johnny Depp / mad hatter pic from Alice in Wonderland.

Perfect, I know 😉 So what about you? Did you ever see a pic and thought “This is how those Capitol people could look like”? Or did you try to google it? Did you maybe draw some kind of fan art? Then what are you waiting for? Send it over to me! No matter if it’s a pic, a video, a drawing or whatever. Can’t wait to see it!

The (un)important stuff you forget

Sorry, I know I haven’t blogged here for the last couple of days. That’s because I’m currently reading The Hunger Games. Again. So I guess you can all understand that. If you can’t then what are you doing here on this blog? 😉 Just kidding. But I bet what I’m going to talk about now happened to all of you. There are always so many details that you either just don’t realize or have forgotten about by the time you finish reading a book for the first time. To me that happens always. I had to read The Lord of the Rings three times before I could really remember the scene where they are attacked by some kind of werewolves at night. Yes, I mean werewolves. And no, I’m not mixing it up with the wargs. So maybe I should make a list of things I completely got wrong or forgot about when I first read The Hunger Games and then post about it. That would be fun… For example that in my imagination Darius was like 40 years old. But yesterday I saw that Katniss describes him like that:

He’s probably in his twenties, but he doesn’t seem much older than I do.

Yeah, big fail on my side, I know… Sorry Darius for making you twice as old as you really are! So I hope I can manage to keep a few more details in my head after I’ve finished reading it again. One way or the other, I’ll let you know. Promise! 😉

What did you forget about when you read the books or the first time? Anything that shocked you or made you think “Damn, how could I not have realized this the first time”? Can’t wait to hear about it! So let me know. Even if it’s not about The Hunger Games but any other book. Cause honestly, I’m such a book nerd… 😉 Just leave a comment or e-mail me!

Heading of to finish The Hunger Games. Again…

Hunger Games cakes – The Good, the Bad and the Strange ones

Sometimes when I’m bored I type in random things at google images just to see what comes up. Have you ever tried this with “Hunger Games cake”? Well, I have. And it’s not really a good idea. Cause to be honest, most of them are horrible and strange and I have no idea how anyone could order something like that for a birthday party. So let’s check out some of the awful awesome pictures I found.

Uhm, okay. This is a brown haired Barbie sitting with all her clothes on a cake having the green icing smeared all over her legs. This does not look delicious. At all. Plus there are those brown crumps supposed to be the mud where Peeta hides on the river bank. At least that’s what I guess from the two eyes and the blue topping…

I guess that this one also shows Peeta. Because of the nose and the eyes and cause I can’t think of any other Hunger Games scene that could probably match this cake. Even though I can’t quite tell for sure how eyes and a nose make clear that this is indeed Peeta…

I got several more pictures stored away for upcoming posts but I think those two are enough for now. Honestly Hunger Games and especially Peeta fans all around the world… Isn’t it just enough to have a beautiful cake with flowers and stuffed iced on it just like they’re described in the book. And to make them a Peeta cake, why not just write on them “made by Peeta with love”. Done! Simple but awesome and perfect. That’s what I would want to have instead of a Barbie sitting on top. Just saying.

So did anyone of you have a Hunger Games cake? Found pictures of cakes you like / don’t like? Leave a comment or e-mail me!

The Hunger Games FanArt Gallery Vol.1

Okay, I knew I sooner or later had to talk about this, so why not sooner? Fan art is always kind of a touchy subject. There are the people who create it and out endless effort and time into it on one hand. On the other hand we got those who completely dislike it cause they think it sucks. Badly. And to be honest, they got a point there. Most of it does suck. Badly. But then sometimes you stumble across something you actually like. So to keep this light and nice enjoy the first of a series of Fan Art Gallery posts. This time only with pictures I really kind of like!

a

a

Yep, only two. But those are my favorites of all the fan art pics I could find. I really love those! So that’s it for now.

So what do you think about fan art? Love it? Hate it? Are you by any chance one of the people who created one of those fantastic pictures or something similar? Tell me about it! Leave a comment or e-mail me!
